Congratulations to our October’s member of the month, Cassandra Tengan!

Each month, CrossFit Kuleana spotlights a member at our box who has shown great dedication to their health and fitness journey.  Today we are talking with Cassandra Tengan who has been at the box for 8 months. Aloha, Cassandra!  Thank you for taking the time to tell us a bit about yourself and your fitness goals!

What were your goals when you started?

My goal was to find a new fitness regimen that would continue to help me deal with stress and alleviate my tension headaches.

Have you achieved those original goals?

Hell, yes!

What are your goals now?

Work on loosening tight muscles, improve my snatch, and to properly bail when back squatting.

What have you tried in the past to achieve your goals?

I used to work with a private trainer to loosen tight muscles and work on form and posture.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Kuleana?

Hard question…everything. The coaches are amazing and everyone there is really supportive. Everyone says that Kuleana is an ohana and that is certainly true.

What are your favorite exercises?

Anything with kettlebells.

What is your favorite type of WOD?

The ones that look easy but kick your butt.

How has CrossFit Kuleana affected you outside the gym?

Kuleana has given me a different outlook on life and a new approach for things that seem difficult. It also reminds me that there is more than one way to look at things.

October's Member of the Month: Cassandra Tengan

How has CrossFit benefited your life?

It has challenged me in ways I never knew I could be challenged. It has taught me about perseverance and if you take things one rep at a time, you will achieve your end goal.

What would you say to people who are afraid to try CrossFit?

If I can do it, so can you. I may scale my workouts but it is still challenging and doable. Plus, the endorphin high you get from the workouts make it worth it.
