Lauren has been doing CrossFit for three years but took eight months off before joining our Kuleana ‘Ohana. She got into CrossFit because she couldn’t do regular gym sessions at 24-hour fitness and hated that it took forever to get in a decent workout. Lauren loves getting a solid workout in under 60 min with us.
Lauren has been a shining star in our box. She shows us all what it is to work hard and we appreciate that work ethic. She has a great attitude towards the workouts and pushes herself and others around her. She comes in early to get a good warm up and stays late to work on her skills. She is not afraid to get her hands dirty; literally, as Lauren has busted open her hands countless times doing bar work during class and competitions. And yet, she is always smiling and so fun to be around.
We asked her what she enjoys most about CrossFit and CrossFit Kuleana:
“No matter how my day is going before hand, I always feel a sense of accomplishment after I get into the WOD. I also like the fact that even though CrossFit is mostly [about the] individual, you still have that camaraderie as if you are on a team. You always have someone there cheering for you and pushing you to do the best you can. I love the atmosphere at Kuleana! From the great coaches to the programming, to the members, this is my happy place. It really is more than just a box here; it’s a family.”
When asked if she had any advice for members, Lauren suggested that we all shouldn’t be afraid to push ourselves and go a little harder or add some extra weight on the bar.
“Your body is so much stronger than you think it is and can do some pretty epic sh**.”
